Anderson P. Smith, Ph.D.
Dr. Anderson P. Smith is an educator, writer, and social justice advocate focused on literacy, creativity, and transformation.
Dr. Smith holds a Ph.D. in English Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. His work explores how language and storytelling can empower people across educational and correctional settings.
Across medium- and maximum-security prison programs, Dr. Smith has developed writing and literacy curricula that center voice, agency, and critical reflection. His pedagogy bridges rigorous scholarship with practical community impact.
As a speaker and workshop facilitator, he has presented nationally and internationally on antiracist practice, creative writing, and culturally responsive learning. His sessions combine research-backed strategy with direct application for teachers and leaders.
Dr. Smith currently serves in research compliance education at Columbia University, where he designs and leads training that supports ethical, equitable, and accountable scholarship.
